Four years have passed since Nelson Faria’s last visit to the Zurich Jazz Orchestra. The Brazilian Faria, guitarist and composer, has become a who’s who of the South American music world. He played with everyone, influenced everyone, kept the tradition of his country alive and carried it forward. An evening with Faria includes pieces he has arranged from Música Popular Brasileira and his own compositions such as “Brooklyn High” or “Rio”, always accompanied by his South American, warm-hearted stage presence.
Nelson Faria has worked with musicians such as João Bosco, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Till Brönner and Milton Nascimento and has also played with João Bosco’s band a few times in Zurich. In addition to his career as a musician, Faria is also a sought-after educator, author of six books and lecturer, both in America and in Sweden, where he lives temporarily.
