“The return to the forefront of the scene of one of the greatest voices of the African continent, which celebrates its half-century career: Salif Keita.
In 1968, Salif Keita made his own revolution: breaking with his family – princely – who opposed his desire to become a singer (a function reserved for the griot caste), he moved to Bamako and made his debut in marketplaces, cafés and discos. Soon after, he joined the Rail Band of saxophonist Tidiani Koné, whose success throughout West Africa brought him fame. Half a century later, Keita is recognized as a star of African music. For the beauty of his voice, and for his ability to retain the spirit of his Mandingo roots and traditional instruments in productions of international stature. We can only rejoice to find the great singer, inventor of an Afro-pop that has toured the world, whose appearances have become rare in recent years, at the heart of an evening that celebrates the creative dynamism of Africa.”
