Nominated for a Latin Grammy and winner at the Brazilian Music Awards, Rogê is an artist, songwriter, composer and musician in his own right, regarded as one of the key figures in the renewal of Música Popular Brasileira (MPB). He has released seven solo albums and two collaborations, one with samba legend Arlindo Cruz (_Na Veia_, Warner Music) and another with Seu Jorge (_Seu Jorge & Rogê_, Night Dreamer Records).
Now based in Los Angeles, California, Rogê released _Curymman_ (Diamond West Records) in 2023, his first US album. A joyful and festive samba record, it carries a message of redemption and resistance, of resilience. In Rogê’s words, “to not give in to sadness, to laziness, to the lack of desire to move forward in life. It’s the certainty that a new day will rise.”
Following in the footsteps of MPB legends such as Jorge Ben, Milton Nascimento and Seu Jorge, Rogê has created his own blend of samba soul and funk, driven by his highly rhythmic acoustic guitar riffs and unmistakably Carioca voice.
Having honed his craft at the samba club Carioca da Gema in Rio de Janeiro, Rogê now brings his acclaimed, infectious samba funk to Fasching for an evening steeped in the invigorating embrace of Brazilian melancholy. Since its founding in 1977, Fasching has become Scandinavia’s leading presenter of “jazz & beyond,” renowned across Sweden and abroad.
