With the album _New York Tango Trio_, Richard Galliano pays tribute to Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, an homage that sweeps Jazz sous les Pommiers into a captivating tango dance.
Before Richard Galliano, the accordion was almost exclusively associated with musette, java, circassian circles, perhaps fado and other folk or traditional music, a highly respectable instrument, but one that few imagined could ever break into the freedom and modernity of jazz. And yet, Richard Galliano did just that. Even more impressively, beyond the instrument’s traditional repertoire, he brought jazz sensibility to classical works by Bach and Vivaldi. This is how the composer, a brilliantly eclectic musician and master improviser, made a name for himself in the world of jazz.
On the stage at Jazz sous les Pommiers, the accordionist summons the spirit of Astor Piazzolla! Joined by Adrien Moignard on guitar and Philippe Aerts on double bass, Richard Galliano performs _New York Tango Trio_, an album dedicated to the genius Argentine composer. Expect to be swept away by the rhythms of tango, French chanson, and gypsy jazz!
