Nothing can deplete the breath that animated, for the last four decades, the great American pioneer of French contemporary dance. Now, the new performance by Carolyn Carlson, inaugurates her two-year residency at the Théatre National de Chaillot.
For her new creation, Now, Carolyn Carlson chose to work with seven performers, who are among her relatives and who all know perfectly well her dynamic and singular universe. Rather than speaking of choreography, Carolyn Carlson likes to see her work as visual poetry. With pleasure, she turns to the reading of philosophers and drew her inspiration, for this new show, from Gaston Bachelard’s philosophical thought, which transcends the materiality of the elements that compose the world and invites people to “bring back the spirit home, where the inner vision perceives the spaces where we are living.”
