In nearly 30 years, Mourad Merzouki has contributed to the evolution of hip-hop dance and to giving it a prominent place in the contemporary choreographic landscape. From boxing to the circus, through classical music or aerial dance, from one creation to another, the spectator is taken into a new universe, always unique, poetic, visual. Each creation is the result of unexpected artistic encounters. Each in its own way moves the lines, bypasses clichés, transcends aesthetic boundaries and reveals hip-hop dance from new perspectives. In this vast artistic mix that is his repertoire, Mourad Merzouki appears as a creator-alchemist. Today, with this constant desire to encourage encounters with all audiences, he imagines a new form, Mosaïk. From Käfig (1996) to La Couleur de la grenade (2024), Mourad Merzouki offers to (re)live the highlights of his artistic repertoire that have marked several generations of an audience that is still as loyal as ever!
Created in May 2024 in Togo, Mosaïk is an “all-terrain” choreographic piece, which brings together five dancers to reinterpret excerpts from shows whose universes echo each other in a journey through the artistic journey of the Käfig company.
