On the occasion of her seventieth birthday, the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho is the guest of honor at the Musica Festival. Kaija Saariaho’s most faithful creative companions will gather to salute the composer’s career. This exceptional concert retraces the artist’s career through some of her outstanding pieces. From Nuits, adieux (1991) to Light still and moving (2016), the range of visual metaphors of the artist who, as a child, had already tried to write down “yellow and nervous sounds” on a sheet of paper, takes shape. Sonorous and virtual, these images are here put in perspective with those filmed by her friend and director Anne Grange, who has followed her over the past few years. Between dreamed visions and testimonies, the public is invited to penetrate the intimacy of the composer’s studio. A concert, a living documentary, a tribute to creativity.
