The native of Acre, a state of the North of Brazil was at the genesis of the bossa nova, when he hung out din the 60s with his neighbors Tom Jobim, Johnny Alf, Luiz Bonfá, and soon Joao Gilberto… Ten years later, he still triumphs by recording in Los Angeles Bad Donato, a concentration of Amazonian funk, psyche and afro-Cuban music. Then moving on with brilliant Quem é Quem, where the samba mixes with the experimental… As a summary of the style Donato: quite at the same time relaxed and rigorous, crossover and experimental, energetic and of an infinite sweetness. So many qualities which will be underlined all the better as he brings to a close Banlieues Bleue with a heck of a pair, the drummer Robertinho Silva and the bass player Luiz Alves, his friends of more than thirty years…
