In his name, the saxophone virtuoso Femi Kuti carries the heritage of his father Fela Kuti – the inventor of Afrobeat and Nigerian national hero. Following the beginnings in his father’s band, «Egypt 80», in 1986 Femi Kuti formed his own band, «Positive Force». Since then he has constantly expanded the Afrobeat vocabulary and supplemented it with elements of Punk and Hiphop. Just like his father, Femi Kuti also uses music as a political loudhailer in the fight for freedom and justice.
