Having moved the jazz planet in a duet with Nelson Veras, the trumpeter “beefs up her game” with an atypical quartet. Airelle Besson is far from being a newcomer to the jazz world: the Parisian had worked with Sylvain Rifflet, Didier Levallet, Youn Sun Nah and even the group Metronomy. She took the emulation caused by her awards in 2015 (Prize Django Reinhardt and Victoires du Jazz) to launch a surprising group without a bass but with the ethereal and intrepid voice of Isabel Sörling. If we add Benjamin Moussay’s percussive keyboards and Fabrice Moreau’s air battery, we can measure to what point this quartet can reveal itself to be deliciously Bipolar: between crystalline melodies and clashing rhythms.
