For a while, he was a composer for some of the biggest names in American hip hop (Puff Daddy, Ja Rule, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli…). James BKS felt the need to reset his artistic meters. Back in France, he reconnects with his Cameroonian roots and his biological father, the saxophonist Manu Dibango. Signed to actor Idris Elba’s label, his productions now mix African percussion, hip hop and pop melodies for a heady Afrofuturist result, like his hit New Breed, with English rapper Little Simz and American legend Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest).
