Led by the twirling Freddy Cricien, New York hardcore punk combo Madball return to their second home: the Warzone at Hellfest.
By the age of seven, some of them are getting their yellow judo belts, and he was singing on stage with Agnostic Front, his half-brother’s band. By the age of thirteen, some were doing lectures on Charlemagne, while he was recording the first EP for Madball, his newly-formed band. That’s how Freddy Cricien fell into the pot of hardcore punk when he was a kid.

A pot he happily sipped every last drop of to make Madball one of the pillars of New York hardcore. And while the line-up of musicians surrounding Cricien has changed quite a bit over the 35 years of their existence, the riffs have lost none of their cutting edge and the drums are still going strong. Their latest release, For The Cause, their tenth album released in 2018, is proof that the band still has a bright future ahead of them.

As you’d expect, with a career like theirs, they’ll be taking to the stage in the Warzone at Hellfest for their sixth appearance at the Clissonnais festival. Tighten your shoelaces, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
