German composer and pianist Claudia Döffinger presents her compositions and arrangements with the Zurich Jazz Orchestra and Australian singer Kristin Berardi. Claudia Döffinger’s love of the big band sound is evident in her new approach: she combines experimental sounds with dense chords. Hip-hop, indie and funk merge organically with their work, yet sound completely new. Claudia Döffinger is the winner of the Downbeat Student Music Award, 1st prize at the Helsinki Jazz Composition Competition and 3rd prize at the Katowice Composition Competition. As well as jazz standards and earlier original compositions, the music on Kristin Berardi’s new album “The Light and the Dark” can also be heard in big band arrangements.
