Vicente Amigo is now one of the great masters of the flamenco guitar. In 2013, he released his seventh album Tierra, surrounded by outstanding musicians, such as members of Dire Straits and the Celtic British band Capercaillie.
Vicente Amigo, considered to be one of the most remarkable and virtuous performers of his generation, began a tireless quest for aesthetic and sonic possibilities of the flamenco guitar. Playing on all the stages of the world with majestic and impeccable technique, his music captures all audiences. Musicians, singers and dancers support the flamenco in a spectacular show.
In 1988, he decided to start his solo career by appearing at the Festival National de Chant of Mines at the Union where he obtained the “Bordon minero,” the first prize of guitar competitions. Soon after, he won the International Contest of Extremadura. He obtained his consecration as the first flamenco guitarist in 1989 after unanimously winning the Raymond Montoya Prize in guitar in the 12th National Competition of Flamenco Art of Cordoba.
Since his first album De mi corazon al aire in 1991 (recognized by the awards “Icaro” and “El Ojo Critico”) until the following two Vivencias Imaginadas (1995) and Poeta (1997), prizes have followed, as well as opportunities to play with great musicians such as John Mc Laughlin, David Bowie, Stanley Jordan, Milton Nascimiento, Joao Bosco, Phil Manzanera, Paco de Lucia, Camaron de la Isla, among others. In 1991, Vicente Amigo shares with Paco de Lucia the flamenco representation at the international festival “Legends of the Guitar.”
His representations in the world are always a big hit before an audience that follows him, fascinated by his incredible talent and his bold research that he performs with an ever surprising natural ability.
