We owe them black metal, Metallica, Megadeth and many others. The legends of Venom Inc. return to the Hellfest stage in style with their album “There’s Only Black”.

Few artists can claim to have created a major musical genre. Even rarer are those who have given a name to the genre they have created. This was the case, however, for Venom Inc. from England, at least when they were still part of Venom (sans inc.).

Today, the Venom project is a two-headed monster. On one side: just Venom, led by Conrad Lant. On the other: Venom Inc. formed by Jeff Dunn and Tony Dolan, who have been going their separate ways since 2015.

At the dawn of the ’80s, well before the split, these metalheads from Newcastle, England, released two albums that laid the foundations of thrash and black metal. The second of these albums, soberly named Black Metal, would later give its name to the movement taken up by their distant Norwegian descendants.

But let’s not think that Venom Inc. is a story of the past. With the release of There’s Only Black at the end of 2022, the band is back with a venomous venom, and they intend to let the Hellfest crowd know it.
