Martinez began his career at an early age, covering Whitney Houston on his karaoke channel. Zep started playing guitar at the age of 12, with the secret ambition of replacing Ace Frehley in Kiss. He also practiced sticking his tongue out like Gene Simmons. Over the decades that followed, each followed his own musical path without ever crossing paths with the other. One project followed another: Jaïlyna, Martinez, Tempula Clark, Raw Minets, Zep’n’Greg, Blúk Blúk, Alice in Kernerland (and also a few drawings…).
They met at the end of 2020, in the middle of covid. They wrote their first single, “Automatic Songs”, and recorded it under the northern lights. They recorded many more (but in the warmth), changed the name of the band: Martinez & Zep became The Woohoo and prepared an album which, to date, contains no Kiss or Whitney Houston covers.
