At the Valletta International Baroque Festival, Ensemble Correspondances plays festive motets of the seventeenth century. In a historical place, the flamboyant testimony of the baroque period enjoys the unforgettable works of the early composers Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Henry du Mont.

Ensemble Correspondances, conducted by Sébastien Daucé – also an organist and harpsichordist – has made seventeenth century Baroque music its specialty. It has the beautiful ambition to revive the repertoire of ancient music, a rich and abounding creative period.

As part of the Valletta International Baroque Festival, an event entirely in keeping with the identity and the baroque architecture of the city, the ensemble of musicians and singers has chosen to introduce us to motets, musical compositions of one or more voices written from a text, sacred or secular. He plays the Te Deum composed by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, played for the first time in 1699. It is one of the most played classical works of music. The prelude, joyful and popular, is used in particular as the Eurovision anthem. The Te Deum will be preceded by motets by Henry du Mont organist and composer of Flemish Baroque music, which inspired Lully, who was born in 1610 and died in 1684.
