The Simple Minds adventure began in 1977 in Glasgow, around the hard core formed by singer Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill. Very quickly, the new wave created by the band resonated in the United Kingdom. This style, which was initially very cold and experimental, quickly gave way to more pop influences, crystallized in 1982 in the album New Gold Dream. Result: a global rise and hits – Belfast Child, Alive and Kicking, Don’t You (Forget About Me)… – which are today an integral part of pop history.
More than 45 years of music, it’s worth celebrating! For the Nuits de Fourvière, the members of Simple Minds play the entire New Gold Dream album. From 1982 to 2024, the magic still happens! The icing on the cake is that the group offers us a grand finale by concluding the concert with a selection of their greatest hits. Certainly, something to delight lifelong fans and attract new generations.
