This is an artist who is rightly lauded at the top of her craft, as a jazz singer whose been there and seen it all. As a young woman, she followed a burgeoning love for jazz all the way to the bright lights of New York, where she performed alongside Charles Mingus, Herbie Nichols, and Charlie Parker (who called her the “singer with the million-dollar ears”) in the 1950s.
