Feminized, cosmopolitan and with variable geometry: this is the new National Jazz Orchestra directed by Frédéric Maurin, previously in charge of the Ping Machine ensemble. For its very first program, orchestrated by the great conductor of the Sacre du Tympan Fred Pallem, the fifteen or so musicians – a powerful blowing section, a rhythm section with a sharp groove, many new faces (Morgane Carnet, Susana Santos Silva, Anna-Lena Schnabel, Farida Amadou…) – attack very hard and set out to explore the always mysterious and marvellous music of one of the greatest jazz innovators.
