Franco-Swiss mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti invites audiences on an intimate journey into the heart of the Baroque vocal repertoire. Through works by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Henry Purcell, Antonio Vivaldi and George Frideric Handel, the programme explores human passions, desire, melancholy and devotion, carried by a voice that is both deep, sensitive and free.
A leading figure of her generation, Marina Viotti performed at the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Her singular artistic path, from the flute to jazz, from heavy metal to a master’s degree in philosophy and literature, informs a deeply embodied and personal approach to music. Moving away from the grandeur of opera, she embraces here the intimacy of Baroque music, where each aria becomes a confession.
This concert weaves a subtle dialogue between voice and instruments, revealing the refinement of a repertoire in which emotion is expressed in a whisper. A timeless, delicate interlude where Baroque music becomes breath, murmur and truth.
