Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos Postizos

Director: Samuel Thiebaut
Genre: Live Show

Watch

“Coming from klezmer, soul and rock, Marc Ribot is a star of the New York scene, one of the most respected guitarists of his time. A true free electron, he plays his six-string guitar at all times: solo, in a trio, as well as with saxophonist John Zorn, as well as with singers Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Caetano Veloso and Alain Bashung. Faithful to himself, always worried about settling into a routine, Marc Ribot is constantly renewing his musical projects.
He returns this year to Fort Ste Agathe with his band Y Los Cubanos Postizos. The project revisits with elegant nonchalance the arrangements of the legendary Cuban conductor Arsenio Rodriguez, the inventor of the son montuno.
Accompanied by bassist Brad Jones, drummer Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Anthony Coleman on organ, and percussion by Miami Sound Machine veteran Robert J. Rodriguez, he embarks on this magical collection of electric guitar-based adaptations that fuse jazz and Latin percussion. Whether you’re Latin music purists, guitar-addicts or jazz nuts, this concert will be a source of enchantment!”
