Lâmekân means “beyond all places” in Arabic. This is the name that Tristan Driessens, Oud player and musical director, has chosen for his Ottoman music ensemble. 
This evening at the Salle Poirel plunges us into the soul of Istanbul and its learned music. A journey of five centuries where East and West meet to weave the links stemming from the classical Ottoman music, rhythmic according to an ancestral tradition that goes back to the 15th century and progresses in time to the Ottoman court music of the 19th century.
