An arranged piano, a German duo of sound engineers turned musicians, a visually worked installation: here is Grandbrothers. Together, Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel play the hybridity card, one bringing his piano and the other his electronic gear. Grandbrothers’ keyboard is both elegant and rhythmic. This impression is underlined by an ingenious system of hammers installed all over the surface of the piano, adding further possibilities to the playing of the two musicians. Guided by this percussive side and the repetition, each piece of the Germans follows a constant crescendo and gives the listener a striking impression of ascension.
