Emma-Jean Thackray began her musical career as a cornet player in a brass band and then turned to the trumpet through her studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She went on to earn a master’s degree in symphonic jazz composition from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. With a solid background, Emma-Jean Thackray founded her own label, Movementt, in 2020 in order to showcase her own music: hybrid and audacious. She released her first album in 2021, “Yellow”, which reached number one in the English charts in the jazz category. A clever mix of 70’s jazz fusion, through cosmic invocations inspired by Sun Ra or Alice Coltrane. The promise of a psychedelic journey to discover urgently.
