Half baroque, half contemporary; half French, half British: this is the challenge that Franck-Emmanuel Comte and the Concert de L’Hostel Dieu have taken up for this recording. This recording brings together on the same program pages by Lully and Purcell, and contemporary creations by Frenchman David Chalmin and British composer Martyn Harry. If the first is inspired by Purcell and the second by Lully, both of them associate the sonorities of the baroque instrumentarium to their own language, opening the dialogue between times, languages and borders. Axelle Verner lends her mezzo voice and her singular personality to the vocal pages of this program.
