The Lille Opera takes on the role of devil’s advocate in this thrilling new production of Gounod’s \*Faust\*, a renowned classic of the operatic repertoire and one of the most frequently performed French operas in the world! The highly acclaimed director Denis Podalydès, known for his “entertaining and accessible” adaptations of classic operas (according to Bachtrack), presents a captivating version of the legendary myth, featuring sublime costumes by Christian Lacroix. Gounod’s vibrant and expressive music, set to the original 1859 libretto, is conducted by Louis Langrée.

Award-winning tenor Julien Dran portrays Doctor Faust, an aging philosopher weary of life who sells his soul to Mephistopheles (Jérôme Boutillier), the Devil himself, in exchange for an elixir of youth.
