The “Le Piano Symphonique” festival returns to Lucerne for its fifth edition, featuring Martha Argerich, the festival’s “Associate Pianist,” and a cast of renowned pianists! This concert features Martha Argerich herself performing duets with three long-time friends and collaborators: Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 2 in G minor with Mischa Maisky, the “Kreutzer” Sonata with Janine Jansen, and two gems by Debussy with Stephen Kovacevich. The second part of the program is dedicated to a remarkable improvisation by harpsichordist Jean Rondeau: Sisyphus, which pays tribute to ancient and contemporary styles by evolving around themes by Bach, Couperin, Biber, and Ligeti.
