British singer-songwriter and guitarist Rosie Frater-Taylor, rapidly rising on today’s music scene, is widely recognized as a guitar virtuoso and a vocalist with remarkable depth and emotional range. Following in the footsteps of artists such as Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, and Herbie Hancock, Rosie Frater-Taylor has established herself as a one-of-a-kind talent.
Appearing at Studio Le Claque for a new Analogue Session, the young singer and guitarist makes her mark right from the first track, the aptly named _Heartbeat_. Backed by a tight rhythm section, she reveals a strong gift for storytelling, as shown in her sophisticated rendition of _No Scrubs_ (originally by Atlanta’s all-female trio TLC). The vintage décor of the singular Parisian venue provides the perfect backdrop for _Give & Take_, an up-tempo piece carried by a voice of impressive maturity.
Three of the songs from her new album, _Featherweight_, skillfully blur the boundaries between rock, alternative pop, neo-soul, new-school jazz, and folk. Inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell, PJ Harvey, and Kate Bush, as well as more rock-oriented artists such as John Mayer, Meshell Ndegeocello, St. Vincent, and Madison Cunningham, _Featherweight_ demonstrates clear emotional and musical maturity, presenting a wide palette of soundscapes that intertwine beautifully through Rosie’s distinctive songwriting, guitar playing, and vocal style.
