Sleaford Mods were on Echoes with Jehnny Beth! The two Englishmen took advantage of the opportunity to unleash all the aggression contained in their UK Grim album, released in 2023.
Does Nottingham ring a bell? Of course, Robin Hood, Little John and the beautiful Marianne! Can you put that in context? Perfect. Well, this British city is now the home of Sleaford Mods, a duo who remind us that even if Prince John and his Sheriff have long since retired, injustice still strikes in England.
Sleaford Mods is the – rather noisy – baby of Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn. The two unleash a subversive rage fuelled by the injustices of British society. In true British style (but the style of the working class, not the style of the dandy), the duo give back to their country and spit out their venom with a strong spoken word. The post-punk of these two Englishmen is a slap in the face, something that takes you right to the gut.
The failings of the perfidious Albion seem to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration: since 2013, Sleaford Mods have been releasing at a frenetic pace: an album every one or two years. Sleaford Mods will be unleashing this urgent discography on the Echoes with Jehnny Beth audience. A slap in the face!
