O’o is the project of two Frenchmen based in Barcelona: Victoria Suter and Mathieu Daubigné. Before taking off for the Catalan capital, the two musicians met in Agen, where they were both studying music theory. It was Victoria who first moved to Spain, with Mathieu following suit a few years later.
Perhaps inspired by the work of Gaudí, the members of O’o are building a colourful, moving and organic universe in their new home. The duo’s music is as pop as it is experimental, at times recalling Ibeyi, Emilie Simon, Camille and Sylvan Esso.
In 2022, O’o took the plunge into the world of pop. This summer, the duo released their very first album: Touche. This opus, released by the very chic InFiné label (Carl Craig, Francesco Tristano, Léonie Pernet, Rone…) follows on from the Spells EP, released in 2018.
But what exactly is an O’o? A bird endemic to Hawaii, unfortunately extinct at the turn of the 80s… Snif! An ornithological wink that makes us want to describe our two musicians as ‘rare birds’.
