Archie Shepp is a free jazz singer who has collaborated with some of the greatest musicians of all time, from John Coltrane to Frank Zappa, and including the initiator of free jazz, Cecil Taylor. Endowed with a timeless virtuosity, Archie Shepp is an artist of many hats: saxophonist, singer, committed poet, pianist and also playwright. For the Jazz à Porquerolles festival, he is surrounded by Jean-Paul Bourelly on guitar, Reggie Washington on bass, Tom McClung on piano and Hamid Drake on drums: a whole gathering to experience a grandiose concert at the cutting edge of jazz.
