Al Jarreau “Bring Your Life to the Stage”
Director: Thierry Guedj
Genre: Documentary
Watch
The film will show the singer Al Jarreau travelling across a part of the American territory, looking for his past with emotion. This travel through his life will have three main stops: Los Angeles, where he is recording a brand new album; San Francisco, where special events during his youth made him the human being he is today; Milwaukee, his home town, where he first sang in church when he was a 4 years old boy. In these different places we will meet very closely a man, but also an artist, as Al Jarreau will give us new versions of his musical standards. A church, a basketball court, an old jazz club, a center for impoverished people, … will lead us to a memory and to a song important to Al Jarreau’s life and career.
As a « Natural-born-improviser », Al Jarreau is always living at present. So there will be another travel in the film, linked to his artistic projects: we had the chance to follow him from New York to Europe during special tours in summer 2011, 2012 & 2013 with studio rehearsals and very rare concerts. Al Jarreau sang with different orchestras (from vocal trio to big band) every kind of music he loves to play (from jazz to pop and R&B).
