Their name, inspired by Velvet Underground’s The Black Angel’s Death Song, spells out exactly what they are all about: dark, venomous rock. Black means black.
Their logo, a black-and-white photo of Nico, is also a tribute to the legendary New York band. From a musical perspective, these five Texans have fared well with their shadowy rock supercharged with psychedelia and mysticism. Their Facebook page offers a list of their influences – including The Brian Jonestown Massacre, BRMC, The Warlocks, Spacemen 3, Suicide, and 13th Floor Elevators (who get two mentions). From their debut album in 2006 to their latest last year, Black Angels have never disappointed, either in the studio or onstage.
