Sylvie Courvoisier is known for combining different worlds: the detailed depth of her European chamber music roots and the grooving sounds of the downtown jazz scene in New York City, where she has been at home for two decades. On her new album “Free Hoops” (released in September 2020 by Intakt), she covers a spectacular range of atmospheres – from dreamy, mysterious to cheerfully swinging.
Sylvie Courvoisier has played with artists such as John Zorn, Mark Feldman and Ikue Mori, leads various jazz formations and writes works for concerts, theater and the avant-garde flamenco dancer Israel Galvàn. In 2018 she received the Swiss Music Prize.
