British jazz quartet Sons of Kemet deploys multifaceted ethio-jazz that borrows from a wide range of African diaspora cultures. Formed in 2011 by Shabaka Hutchings, Oren Marshall, Seb Rochford and Tom Skinner, the group makes tunes that blend jazz, rock, Caribbean sounds and African music sound good. A style that has brought them to prominence, so much so that they won the “Best Jazz Act” award at the MOBO Awards, the year they released their debut album Burn, an opus brimming with enthusiasm.
