Under the fingers of pianist Shani Diluka, Bach and minimalist music meet. A concert given on the stage of the Opéra Comique on the occasion of ARTE Concert’s Piano Day.
Shani Diluka was born in Monaco of Sri Lankan parents. Between her two cultures, Western and Eastern, the pianist leads a flamboyant international career which allows her to defend a vast repertoire, in the transmission and the requirement. This commitment earned Shani Diluka the title of Chevalier de la Culture et des Arts from the Princess and Prince of Monaco in 2018.
Thanks to her eclecticism embracing chamber music, minimalist masterpieces and classical repertoire, Shani Diluka has collaborated with artists as diverse as Natalie Dessay, Michel Portal, Gérard Depardieu, Wolfgang Rihm, the Ebony Quartet…
For ARTE Concert’s Piano Day, Shani Diluka unveils on the Opéra Comique stage a programme called Bach Minimalists, which, as its name suggests, marks the meeting of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and works of the minimalist movement. A concert with the air of a quest towards infinity.
