After Why Patterns and RECESS, the duo Jonah Bokaer/Daniel Arsham strikes again with Rules of the Game. On music composed by Pharrell Williams and arranged by David Campbell (who led the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in the SOLUNA Festival), eight dancers move on a plateau where movement and video intertwine. A metaphysical show that the choreographer and visual artist offer as a French première in Lyon.
Here, the two Americans tackle The Rules of the Game, a play by Luigi Pirandello. Ironically, this creation of 1918 is mainly known thanks to another work of the Italian writer: the iconic Six Characters in Search of an Author, whose protagonists precisely repeat The Rules of the Game.
A work reminiscent of a tragic Vaudeville that revolves around a love triangle: Leone, his wife Silia and the lover of the latter, Guido.
