An accordionist, a trumpeter and a pianist… A French, an Italian and a Swedish… There’s no more doubt: the trio formed by Richard Galliano, Paolo Fresu and Jan Lundgren resumes service! After the success of the project Mare Nostrum (2007), the three friends come to present at Nancy Jazz Pulsations their new offspring: Mare Nostrum II. The musicians therefore renew their declaration of love to the liquid element and the imaginary that accompanies it. They invite us to accept the slowness: just as on a boat we must let ourselves be carried.

Yet again, the trio offers compositions full of daydreams and melancholy. A call to travel that traces an imaginary link between the Mediterranean and the Baltic. At this meeting between the North and the South of Europe is added a telescoping of the epochs: airs borrowed from the “chanson française” together with covers of Monteverdi and Erik Satie. It is official, the sea knows no borders.
