Jef Lee Johnson, aka Rainbow Crow, was supposed to play this February 22 at Sons d’hiver. He left us on January 28th. He was a regular at the festival, so it seemed only natural to pay him this tribute at the very moment he should have been playing on the stage of the Maison des Arts de Créteil. On stage we will find Reggie Washington (who played with Steve Coleman, Don Byron, D’Angelo, the Word Saxophone Quartet, Cassandra Wilson etc…). He was a friend of Jef’s, and had formed a trio with him for several years. To accompany him, he specially formed the “Rainbow Shadow” with Patrick Dorcéa, drummer of Jef Lee Johnson’s trio and the great guitarist Jean Paul Bourelly, whom Jef Lee Johnson loved very much.
