Rarely has the Bill T. Jones company seized the stage with such exaltation of the movement.
At the height of an internationally recognized career, Bill T. Jones, the charismatic figure of American dance, is known for his political commitments in favor of minorities – social, ethnic, sexual or cultural. In this new program of works 2012 and 2013, there is no political question, the intention of Bill T. Jones is to highlight the joy of working together between musicians and dancers. He creates a sensitive dialogue with two of the finest works for string quartet: the Ravel Quartet and Schubert’s Death and the Maiden. As a virtuosic and fluid dance, alternating takeoffs and falls, Bill T. Jones tastes melancholy and sweetness giving body to these complex logical partitions, played here by Yako Quartet as part of an educational partnership with the Lyon Conservatory. The set includes a beautiful program, jubilant, where dance is full of joy, depth and virtuosity. Dance in its pure state.
