Patrick Watson can play anything, sing anything, and pretty much do anything. The Canadian pianist and composer came to prominence in 2003 with a debut album called Just another Ordinary Day. Since then, the artist explodes codes and shuns formats. More than a decade navigating between folk and pop, joy and melancholy. This playfulness is at the service of an intimate lyricism. A philosophy that Patrick Watson applies to his own compositions as to his multiple projects, film music for example.
When asked about his inspiration, Patrick Watson cites Björk, the Beatles, Nick Drake or even Sufjan Stevens. Influences that we can find today, especially in his last opus: Love Songs for Robots, released last year.
Accompanied by Matthieu Chedid, Marie-Pierre Arthur and his group, the Canadian illuminates the Gaîté Lyrique with his wonderful melodies. A unique concert, for two or three pianists, especially for the ARTE Concert Festival!
