During this Portal Tour, we have the opportunity to see saxo-clarinetto-bandoneonist marauding with unusual partners, but also with more “regular” collaborators. This trio, formed with the legendary drummer Daniel Humair and Bruno Chevillon, one of the most acclaimed contemporary double bassists, is a bit like his “classic” formation. The three of them propose an adventurous jazz, virtuoso and graceful, amusing and uncomplicated, but without excess, generous, creative, but always readable. An erudite jazz, but not reserved for the initiated. In any case, there are no insiders, there can be none, as Michel Portal’s music did not exist before he invented it. As he says himself, jazz is above all “the land of the unknown, of extreme feelings”.
