Les Leçons des Ténèbres (Lessons of Darkness) is a unique experience, whatever a person’s faith.
The day before Good Friday, the Lamentations of Jeremiah are sung by the congregations thus completing the period of Lent; with each psalm one of the candles is extinguished until reaching complete darkness and silence. In this place, Les Leçons de Lalande composed for the Convent of Our Lady of the Assumption in 1680, offered by the Ensemble Correspondances and the shocking Sophie Karthäuser, has a special resonance.
