Fractus V – Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui

Director: Denis Caïozzi
Genre: Live Show

Watch

Fractus V combines the talents of five dancers with different nationalities and styles: Dimitri Jourde (a Frenchman with a circus background), Johnny Lloyd (American lindy hop fan), Fabian Thomé (Spanish and flamenco dancer), Patrick “Twoface” Seebacher (German specialist in hip hop and breakdance) and of course Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (protean choreographer of Flemish and Moroccan origin).

All of them give substance to the theories of Noam Chomsky, an American linguist and philosopher who has been interested in the questions of objectivity and manipulation as well as in the relationships between individuals and society. Freedom of expression is therefore at the heart of Fractus V. This work, both choreographic and metaphysical, is accompanied in music by four artists from Asia and Africa: Kaspy N’Dia (Congolese singer), Shogo Yoshii (percussionist and Japanese singer), Woojae Park (Korean singer and musician) and Soumik Datta (Indian sarod player). A multicultural encounter that emphasizes the importance of taking a step back and listening to the other.
