Attention phenomena: Irish singer CMAT shows off all her talent and humour at Eurosonic. A real show, and we’ve brought you a little piece of it.

Active since 2017, CMAT (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) is one of the rising stars of Irish pop. With the albums If My Wife New I’d Be Dead (2022) and Crazymad, for Me (2023) she takes us into a world both full of colour and dominated by black humour. A good dose of irreverence that blows a breath of fresh air over Anglo-Saxon pop.

It was at the Stadsschouwburg that ESNS festival-goers met CMAT. They discovered a real showgirl (as much a fan of Katy Perry as Dolly Parton) with a devilishly catchy pop sound. The tracks ‘2 Wrecked 2 Care’ and ‘Whatever’s Inconvenient’ prove it in just a few notes!
