Get off the beaten path with Cimafunk & Fred Wesley, present on the Jazz à la Villette 2022 stage!

Afro-Cuban rockstar Cimafunk, whose name refers to his heritage as a “cimarrón,” the fugitives who resisted and escaped slavery, brings out the best in Cuban rhythms and traditions, infusing them with African and African-American sounds. In his second album entitled “El Alimento”, released in 2021, Cimafunk redefines contemporary Cuban music as well as Afro-Latin identity and the fusion of black cultures. It is an intoxicating celebration that also features funk, hip-hop and soul.
For the first time, Cimafunk is joined on stage by American trombonist and arranger Fred Wesley, former musical director of James Brown, who called him “the funkiest trombone player ever”. The evening promises to be amazing!
