Versatile musician Ben Wendel and director Ruben van Leer have put together an ambitious multidisciplinary project entitled SOL (Sound of Light). With the expertise of audiovisual artist Wes Broersen, choreographer Lukáš Timulak and set designer Tiemen Rapati, the team have built an ‘immersive improvisation machine’ in which Wendel and dancer Alice Godfrey explore how we interact with our bodies, nature, memory and trauma. At the heart of SOL is a specially designed technology in which music, sound, light and movement are connected in real time. An interplay between solo saxophone, dance, video and a web of lasers. The team has already worked with The Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Massive Attack, Nederlands Dans Theater and United Visual Artists, among others.
