First Prize at the 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition, Alexandre Kantorow has included a concerto by this composer in his symphonic concert. But beware, this is the Second, an unknown gem whose slow movement has something of a page of chamber music. The concert starts with the First Suite of Carmen, where we find with pleasure the very beautiful intermissions of the opera, and end with Pictures at an Exhibition in the orchestration of Ravel, a score that makes the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra shine with all its fire.
