Joachim Kühn came to jazz relatively late, influenced by his brother, clarinetist Rolf Kühn. In 1968, he moved to Paris, where he collaborated with Michel Portal and formed a trio with Jean-François Jenny-Clark and Daniel Humair. A champion of free jazz in East Germany, his acoustic explorations also reflect a deep interest in contemporary music. At the 2017 Jazzdor Festival in Strasbourg, the German jazz star performed alongside bassist Chris Jennings and drummer Eric Schaefer. The _New Trio_, both wild and imaginative, presented the album _Love & Peace_, embracing an unconventional sonic language.
